Course Description:

Ned Christiansen is one of most respected gunsmiths in the country. His 1911 Armorers Course will cover the common shortcomings found in 1911's, including those that are manufactured in and those that are caused by normal wear, bad gunsmithing, and bad luck. Less common maladies will also be discussed, with preventive measures and solutions offered. A brief description of the 1911's basic sequence of operation will be laid out as a foundation for the class. No one will be left behind as the class advances, but it is assumed that most students will already have some basic knowledge of how autopistols work and some 1911 trigger time.

The class format will follow a certain sequence of subjects, albeit loosely, with time for questions and discussion throughout. This will be more than a class on which part to change, but not a gunsmithing class per se. Areas discussed will include reliability, safety, durability, ergonomics, and if time permits, a little time may be used on cosmetics. The class is geared more towards defensive and duty guns, and less towards cutting-edge competition guns. There will not be a shooting segment to this class.

This is a one day course (approximately 8 hours) with a one hour lunch break (we will probably have lunch delivered this year- more to follow). We have contacted a number of vendors who have generously donated merchandise for the class (bench mats, bushing wrenches, etc.). Class size is limited
.
