Course Description:

Louis Awerbuck's Tactical Handgun Stage 2 addresses more advanced shooting problems including target angles, vital zone definition under stress, one-handed acquisition and manipulation, and backup (secondary) weapon manipulation (if used). Primary emphasis of this course is on dealing with compounded target problems with both speed and accuracy. There will be some amount of increased distance used, but most shooting is performed from average gunfight distances. Multiple moving target scenarios are used.

The class will also cover close quarters operation, REALISTIC time frames and scenarios, both day and night, and the ability to maintain continuity of fire if needed (two pistols are strongly advised). Heavy emphasis is placed on the mental aspects of fighting based on factors such as reaction time and the biochemical effects of stress induction.

One of the primary intents of this course is to enable the participants to reach a level of physical and mental ability so that they may be able to win a “conventional” man-on-man for-real confrontation WITHOUT having to resort to gunfire.

This is NOT a beginners course. Students will be expected to have mastered the material in the Stage 1 curriculum. It will be assumed that the student is already capable of performing, ON DEMAND, the following elements: Drawstroke, all basic weapon manipulation, malfunction clearances, shooting on the move, weapon retention and the use of a flashlight for night shooting.

Equipment:

• Safe reliable handgun, 9mm minimum

• Quality holster, belt and magazine pouches. Holster should allow for one-handed reholstering

• Minimum of 2 spare magazines. More is better.

• Eye and ear protection (remember clear lenses for night shoot)

• Flashlight for night shoot portion of the class

• 800 rounds of quality ammunition that runs reliably in your handgun

• A backup handgun and holster. A spare handgun in case your primary goes down is also a good idea.
