Course Description:

Randy Cain combines his extensive background in both small arms training and traditional martial arts to provide what promises to be one of the most unique training opportunities available. This dynamic 3 day course is specifically designed for those concerned with the ability to handle real-world threats at conversational distances. Close Quarters Tactics (CQT) Handgun provides the training solution necessary to secure dominance in typical street encounters. Far from the "square range" mentality, this outstanding program includes specialized training in CQB, unconventional shooting, contact weapon defense, hand-to-hand, ground survival, weapon retention and counter-retention (disarming).

CQT Handgun
stands boldly apart from any other program as it includes both live fire and defensive tactics training. Bridging the gap between "fighting with a gun" and fighting with just about anything you can get your hands on - this course will train you to use your handgun, improvised weapons and even your bare hands to survive a life-and-death altercation at extreme close quarters.

CQT is equally suitable for the Private Sector CCW holder and Law Enforcement Officer.  When suddenly attacked you must survive that initial assault, possibly with edged weapon, stick, etc. No one can draw fast enough to beat an unexpected thrust with a blade. The idea is to block, parry, deflect, move, create distance, and buy enough time to get your gun out of the holster.

Equipment:

• Safe reliable handgun, 9mm minimum

• Quality holster, belt and magazine pouches. Holster should allow for one-handed reholstering

• Minimum of 2 spare magazines. More is better.

• Eye and ear protection

• 600 rounds of quality ammunition that runs reliably in your handgun

• A "Red Gun" or "Blue Gun" (non-firing training gun) that is the same make/model of your handgun and uses the same holster. These are available from a variety of vendors for around $30. Contact us if you need sources

Heavy duty leather gloves (work gloves) to protect your hands during retention/counter-retention drills

• A spare handgun is not a bad idea in case your primary goes down.
