Course Description:

This exciting 3 day course focuses on the use of the bolt action rifle for sporting and defensive purposes. The format explores practical marksmanship at practical distances with practical equipment under field conditions. It is NOT target benchrest shooting. Realistic problems are addressed from near contact distance out to 200 yards.

Practical Rifle is as suitable for the the deer hunter in the sporting field as it is for the defensive shooter. All facets in the efficient use of the rifle are covered, including: safety, marksmanship, position shooting, sling work, and a working knowledge of practical ballistics. Once established, the focus turns to learning to shoot, hunt, and fight with a "common, ordinary deer rifle."

The course consists of numerous live fire tactical drills which are usually encountered in "tactical rifle" or "urban carbine" type courses for magazine fed rifles. The drills and concepts presented  will give the student a superior level of gunhandling and manipulations skills with this formidable weapon system. It's challenging, fast-paced, and is one of the most "fun" classes that we do.

Equipment:

• Bolt action rifle (lever action rifles are also acceptable) with iron sights or scope. The rifle should be equipped with a sling, as a portion of the course will cover proper use of the Ching Sling.

• Eye and ear protection

• 500 rounds of rifle ammunition that runs reliably in your rifle

• Elbow and knee pads are optional
