Course Description:

This two-day block of study provides the essential building blocks for surviving an edged weapon attack at conversational ranges with your bare hands. Scope of study includes basic stances, grips, operation and defense against the edged weapon in the event of an actual edged weapon altercation. Topics include anatomy of engagement, empty hand versus knife, carry and deployment, reactive defense for both low and high-line attacks on your person with an edged weapon and street survival techniques to solve some of the worst edged weapon scenarios out there today.


Upon completion of this course of instruction, the student will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the course material through verbal discussion and/or correct performance of the following concepts/techniques:

• How to assume immediate control of Position and Engagement in an attack
• Immediate acquisition of combative grips, stances and operation of an edged weapon in the event of an actual encounter.
• How to break from an attack and move to superior Position
• How to identify and control the “Contact Connection” of an edged weapon.
• Reactive response for any low-line and high-line attacks at close ranges.
• How to immobilize and takedown an attacker when “closing in.”
• When to “Get In” and handle it and when to “Get Out” and disengage
• Tactical Carry and Rapid deployment drills.
• Disarming an edged weapon
• Carry and deployment of your knife in the event of an attack on your person.
• Tactical operation of your knife at extreme close quarters for self defense.
• Handling single and multiple attackers at extreme close quarters and in confined areas of operation.
