| This permits the student to
complete Levels 1, 2, and 3 over the course of a single day each, which is
more convenient than dedicating an entire 3 day block to training. The focus of these classes is on Marksmanship and Gun Handling Skills. We maximize the student's ability to deliver rapid, accurate hits with the handgun. Defensive Handgun also covers weapons presentation, ready positions, loading/unloading, multiple targets, emergency/administrative reloads, status checks, malfunction clearances, alternate shooting positions, concealed drawstroke, movement, and more. Upon completion of the Defensive Handgun Series, the student will have a solid foundation in the fundamentals of combat marksmanship. | |
Advanced Defensive Handgun begins with a quick review of the "basics" and adds some more advanced tactical skills to the toolbox. Students need to have a solid grasp of the material in the Defensive Handgun Series prior to enrolling in the Advanced classes. Advanced Defensive Handgun is a 16 hour program that is broken into 2 levels:
In addition to the fundamental skills under tighter time/accuracy constraints, this class covers tactical movement, single handed shooting and manipulations, weapon retention/counter-retention, contact distance shooting, flashlight techniques, team tactics, target identification, backup guns, and more. The class culminates with Force on Force exercises using non-lethal Airsoft or Simunitions that pull all of these skills together.
